Thomas Pomfret Kilner (1890-1964) was the plastic surgeon who designed the Kilner Needle Holder. This instrument combines the dual functions of stitch-cutting scissors with a needle holder so that the surgeon can put in a stich then cut the suture afterwards. However, most commonly used nowadays is the Kilner Needle Holder without the combination scissors. This excellent tool allows for delicate and extensive suturing.
